Poem published: My Mother’s Spatula – Silver Birch Press
I’m very happy to share that my erasure poem “My Mother’s Spatula” is featured by Silver Birch Press blog in the My Favorite Things Series today.
I lost my mother 18 years ago. The treasured objects I kept from her have started to break or disappear. The spatula she used to make our favorite Bikini sandwiches was one of these objects. The erasure poem is a perfect way to illustrate how by taking something away that something new and unexpected can emerge. Here are some more.
I have found great solace in writing about my mother. My poem “All about my mother alphabet that becomes a Golden Shovel,” which is also a poetic transformation, was featured in the Silver Birch Press blog All About My Mother Series in June of 2025.
Silver Birch Press is an independent publisher located in Los Angeles. Website.
Thank you for featuring so many wonderful mother themed poems.
